Overview

After Venezuela’s October 15 gubernatorial elections and as the next deadline for its bond payments approaches, the Venezuelan government’s sustainability is increasingly coming into question. Meanwhile, the United States and others in the international community are still trying to determine what steps they can take to encourage a full restoration of democracy.

As the country moves further into authoritarian governance and economic distress, please join the Council of the Americas for the next event in a series of high-level, public consultations on Venezuela.  Our expert panel will discuss the current state of play and what comes next.

Speakers:

  • Russ Dallen, Managing Partner, Caracas Capital Markets
  • Leopoldo Martinez, Chairman & CEO, Center for Democracy and Development in the Americas and IQLatino
  • Francisco J. Monaldi, Baker Institute Fellow, Rice University
  • Eric Farnsworth, Vice President, Americas Society/Council of the Americas
