Overview

Council of the Americas will hold a discussion with Steven Winberg, Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, about the future of American energy and innovation in the hemisphere.

The U.S. is expanding its energy footprint across the Americas and around the world, through LNG shipments, fuel exports, and their associated technologies. Assistant Secretary Winberg leads DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy and its vast research and development program, encompassing unconventional oil and gas, advanced power generation, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). He oversees government research that applies cutting-edge innovation to American energy assets to more sustainably and competitively bring them to global markets, with direct effects on energy policy, consumption, and imports across the region.

He is also a key actor in building partnerships that advance the role of U.S. energy in international markets and is a top envoy in trade discussions pertaining to U.S. energy, including recent negotiations with China.

Please join us for an important discussion on the growing role of American energy in Latin America and its amplifying presence in global markets.
