Art at Americas Society is pleased to present Telenovela Karaoke Night, hosted by artist Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz (a.k.a Mistress Wanda), in partnership with Music of the Americas. The artist is also featured in Telenovela, on view at Americas Society.
Led by Raimundi-Ortiz in her karaoke persona, Mistress Wanda—known for her immersive, irreverent, and audience-driven karaoke performances—the evening will invite audiences to take the stage and sing along to their favorite telenovela theme songs and soundtracks, choosing from a curated playlist.

Doors open at 6 PM. Early arrival is suggested as space is limited, and entry is not guaranteed for late arrivals. The program's recording will be available on this website and on the Art at Americas Society YouTube channel.
This program is in conjunction with the exhibition Telenovela, curated by Aimé Iglesias Lukin.
Guests will be encouraged to come dressed as their favorite telenovela characters, and trophies will be awarded in a variety of playful categories throughout the evening. Through music, dance, and shared memories, attendees will celebrate the passions, dramas, and unforgettable moments that have made telenovelas a cultural phenomenon across the Americas. Transcending geography and cultures, the event will bring people together through a shared Pan-American experience.
About the artist
Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz is an interdisciplinary visual artist whose work pulls from 17th and 18th-century European portraiture, comic books, sketch comedy, folkloric dance, and installation to address race, bias, trauma, and healing. Her work has been featured in venues such as The Momentary, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Museum of Arts and Design, Garage Museum Moscow, Orlando Museum of Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Gyeongnam Art Museum, Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico; and at the Manifesta and Performa biennials. Numerous media outlets, including Art in America ArtNews, PBS, NPR, The New York Times, and The Washington Post have covered her work. She earned her MFA from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of Art and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She is currently full professor of Studio Art at George Mason University and serves as a board member for Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art in Virginia, and Pepatian, an arts organization serving her beloved Bronx artists.
