On May 5, AS/COA hosted Rafael Grossi, general director of the International Atomic Energy Energy Agency (IAEA), in Miami, for an off-the-record, private briefing with members. Grossi is a candidate to be the next secretary general of the United Nations.
In the event, Director Grossi shared insights from his leadership at the IAEA, including his engagement with the private sector and cooperation efforts in Latin America. He addressed the future of nuclear energy and its intersection with today's geopolitical challenges. Additionally, he reflected on his tenure at the IAEA and how this experience has prepared him to potentially lead UN at a time of increasing global complexity.
