INNOVATION & TECHNOLOGY AS ENGINES OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Despite Peru’s impressive economic growth in the last decade, the country lags behind in innovation and technology in the region. The administration of President Ollanta Humala has made it a priority to strengthen science and technology fields through newly enacted laws targeting initiatives with the private sector. Addressing the digital divide and promoting access where services were not previously accessible will position the country to better encourage economic growth, competitiveness and innovation, and social inclusion.

INNOVACIÓN Y TECNOLOGÍA COMO MOTORES DE DESARROLLO ECONÓMICO

A pesar del impresionante crecimiento económico del Perú en la última década, el país está retrasado con respecto a la innovación y la tecnología en la región. Una prioridad del gobierno del Presidente Ollanta Humala ha sido fortalecer las áreas de ciencia y tecnología a través de leyes recién promulgadas que buscan fomentar iniciativas con el sector privado. Reducir la brecha digital y promover el acceso en donde los servicios no estaban previamente disponibles posicionará al país para fomentar aún más el crecimiento económico, la competitividad y la innovación, y la inclusión social.
