Overview

Please join the Council of the Americas for an in-person meeting with Dr. Julio Guzmán, fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy and founder of the Peruvian centrist political party Partido Morado, for a conversation on China's growing influence in the Americas. 

A presidential candidate in 2016 and 2021, Dr. Guzmán's previous political experience include his time in government as vice minister of micro- and small enterprises and as secretary general of the presidency of the Council of Ministers of Peru. In addition, Dr. Guzmán has held positions at Deloitte, Inter-American Development Bank, and in academia. He brings years of personal experiences with senior Chinese officials from his time in and out of government. 

Join us as he shares his perspectives on China's evolving approach to regional trade and investment, business practices, and competition issues in Latin America.
