Overview

Council of the Americas will hold a private, off-the-record meeting on Mexico with Senator Vanessa Rubio Márquez of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI).

Rubio will discuss Mexico’s domestic and foreign policy agendas, the economic environment, and provide an update on the Mexican ratification process for the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Having won election to the Mexican Senate in 2018, she is the president of the Commission on Foreign Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean. Previously, she coordinated the 2018 presidential campaign for José Antonio Meade, and has served as undersecretary of finance and public credit of Mexico, undersecretary for planning, evaluation and regional development, and the undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean.
