OperaWire Highlights Americas Society's Event with Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez

The event, in conjuction with Young Professionals of the Americas, will feature the founder of Sinfonía por el Perú.

Americas Society and Young Professionals of the Americas will present “A Conversation with Juan Diego Flórez of Sinfonía por el Perú” on Feb. 2, 2025 in New York City.

The event will feature the famed Peruvian tenor in discussion with Americas Society Music Director Sebastián Zubieta. The event focuses on Sinfonía por el Perú, the social organization founded by Flórez 15 years ago that provides free music education to children and young people in high-risk and vulnerable communities. Since its founding, the program has reached more than 35,000 participants, offering access to music education alongside personal and social development initiatives.

The public program concludes with a brief performance by horn player Ricardo Verde, a former participant in Sinfonía por el Perú, joined by pianist Brian Fitzsousa. Following the discussion, Americas Society and YPA members and invited guests will attend a private reception with Flórez and Zubieta.
