Eric Farnsworth on NPR: Daniel Ortega's Presidential Win in Nicaragua

"He's taken steps with impunity. And each one gets further and further down the path of dictatorship," said the AS/COA vice president.

AS/COA Vice President Eric Farnsworth spoke to Carrie Kahn on NPR's All Things Considered about the results of the Nicaraguan presidential election. Farnsworth emphasized that President Daniel Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, are not fazed by criticism.

He said the U.S. and others must now act more decisively toward Ortega. "And that, to this point, has not been a feature of international engagement with Nicaragua," Farnsworth said. "He's taken steps with impunity. And each one gets further and further down the path of dictatorship, where we now are."
