COA Holds High-Level Private Events During CAF's 2026 Economic Forum in Panama

The presidents of Panama and Bolivia, as well as Chile's president-elect, participated in meetings held within the framework of CAF's summit.

Panama City, Panama, January 30, 2026—This week in Panama City, Council of the Americas held a CEO roundtable luncheon with Bolivia's President Rodrigo Paz and Chile's President-Elect José Antonio Kast, as well as a private briefing with Panama's President José Raul Mulino, within the framework of CAF's 2026 International Economic Forum - Latin America and the Caribbean.

Both private events were the result of a formal partnership with CAF, the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, to bring the private sector to the International Economic Forum, which is held every January in Panama City in collaboration with the government of Panama. The forum is a high-level event that gathers business and public sector leaders to debate some the most pressing challenges facing the region.

The CEO roundtable luncheon, featuring Paz and Kast, was held on Thursday, January 29, at the Panama Convention Center and it convened approximately 50 CEOs and presidents of leading multinational and multilatina companies operating across the region. 

Paz was joined at the luncheon by Bolivia's Minister of Economy and Public Finance José Gabriel Espinoza, Minister of Development Planning and Environment José Fernando Romero Pinto, and Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy Sergio Mauricio Medinaceli Monroy.

Kast was accompanied by four individuals he intends to appoint to his cabinet: Jorge Quiroz as minister of finance, Francisco Pérez Mackenna as minister of foreign affairs, Trinidad Steinert as minister of security, and Ximena Rincón as minister of energy, as well as Senator Javier Macaya.

Susan Segal, president and CEO of Americas Society/Council of the Americas, and Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF's executive president, offered remarks at the roundtable. Paz, Kast, and their teams presented their economic vision and the conversation focused on priority reforms and opportunities to attract international investment in key strategic sectors.

Council of the Americas, along with CAF, also organized a private briefing with President Mulino that was held on January 29 at the Panama Convention Center. Mulino and COA members spoke about Panama's potential for international investment and the strategic value of the country for regional development.

Panama's Minister of Economy and Finance Felipe Chapman, Foreign Minister Javier Martínez Acha, Minister of Industry and Commerce Julio Moltó and Minister for Canal Affairs José Ramón Icaza also participated in the event.
