Video: A Conversation with Juan Manuel Santos, President of Colombia

Council on Foreign Relations Co-Chairman Carla A. Hills interviewed Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos during UNGA Week at AS/COA. Santos touched on the challenges of the peace talks and reintegration process, noting that reducing poverty and improving education are essential to the peace process. In the first four years of his administration, poverty fell by nearly 10 percentage points, and around 2 million people left extreme poverty, he noted. The president also spoke about Colombia's relationship with Venezuela, the next Summit of the Americas, and the country's shale gas reserves.
