Video: Argentina's Economic Outlook with FIEL Chief Economists

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Speakers:

  • Daniel Artana, Chief Economist, FIEL - Presentation: The long and winding road to the mid-term election
  • Fernando Navajas, Chief Economist, FIEL - Presentation: The economic outlook of transition
  • Santiago Urbiztondo, Chief Economist, FIEL - Presentation: Regulation of public utilities: abandoning the K model

Argentina's economic challenges are vast, said a panel of economists from Fundación de Investigaciones Económicas Latinoamericanas. There needs to be visible growth and a reduction of inflation by October 2017, said Daniel Artana, or voters will lose confidence in the new government ahead of midterm elections. He added that it will be difficult to offset the effects of Brazil's recession, Argentina's biggest trading partner.
