Susana Jiménez

Energy Minister, Chile

Susana Jiménez is currently the minister of energy of Chile. Previously, Jiménez was the team macrocoordinator of President Sebastián Piñera’s Program of Government from 2018 to 2022. In May 2010, she joined Libertad & Desarrollo as a senior economist, responsible for leading studies related to energy, environment, regulation and free competition, and hydro resources. She was named deputy director of L&D in January 2017. Before joining L&D, Jiménez served as a member of the Chilean Ministry of the Environment’s Advisory Counsel and was a director of the Chilean Society of Public Policy. She was an associate economist at the consulting firm P. Rojas y Asociados, where she became partner in 2009. From 2000 to 2002, Jiménez was head of studies at the consulting firm Zahler & Co. She has been a professor at the Universidad de Chile, Universidad Central, Universidad Finis Terrae, and Universidad Católica. Minister Jiménez holds a degree in business management and a master’s in economics from the Pontíficia Universidad Católica de Chile, a diploma in free competition, and a master’s in humanities from the Universidad del Desarrollo.
