Raisa Banfield

Vice Mayor of Panama City, Panama; AQ Top 5 Urban Visionary

Raisa Banfield has been the vice mayor of Panama City, Panama since 2014. She is tasked with administrating new projects such as the Master Plan for the Development of Panama City. In 2010, Banfield founded and currently serves as the president of Sustainable Panama (PASOS), an organization that promotes alternatives to counteract environmental damage. Between 2007 and 2010, she founded and served as the executive director of the Center for Environmental Advocacy (CIAM). Banfield is a former activist and co-founder of the Pro-City Alliance, Committee for the Defense of Camino de Cruces Park and other community organizations. She was also the coordinator and producer of the television program Our Planet, which addresses various environmental issues. Banfield was the founder and director of the firm RGB Architecture and Design, SA from 1994 to 2007. She holds a degree in architecture from the University of Panama. 

Raisa Banfield es la vicealcaldesa de la Ciudad de Panamá, Panamá desde 2014. Tiene el cargo de administrar proyectos nuevos como el Plan Maestro para el Desarrollo de la Ciudad de Panamá. En 2010, Banfield fundó y es presidenta actual de Panamá Sostenible (PASOS), una organización que promueve soluciones alternativas que contrarrestan las prácticas dañinas para el ambiente. Entre 2007 y 2010, fue fundadora y directora ejecutiva de CIAM (Centro de Incidencia Ambiental). Banfield es exactivista y cofundadora de Alianza Pro-Ciudad, Comité Pro Defensa del Parque Camino de Cruces y otras organizaciones comunitarias. Ella también fue la coordinadora y productora del programa televisivo Nuestro Planeta, que aborda temas de diversa índole en materia ambiental. Banfield fue la creadora y directora de la firma de Arquitectura y Diseño RGB S.A. desde 1994 hasta 2007. Posee un título en arquitectura de la Universidad de Panamá.
