Omar Paganini
Omar Paganini is the current minister of industry, energy and mining in the Government of the Republic of Uruguay. In 2003, he became dean of the engineering faculty of the Catholic University of Uruguay. Then, he served as vice chancellor of economic management and development of that same institution and up until his appointment as minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, he was the director of the UCU business school. Previously, between 2001 and 2003, he joined the consulting firm ITC of Antel. In 1995, he joined the department of Payandasú as the director of the company Paylana S.A., where he generated innovations within textile technology following his founding of a company offering services in engineering and automation for the industry in 1990.
Omar Paganini is an electrical engineer with a degree from the University of the Republic and has a master's in business management from the Catholic University of Uruguay. Additionally, he studied entrepreneurship at both Stanford University and UC Berkeley, as well as negotiation as part of the Global PON program organized by Harvard University.
Omar Paganini es el actual ministro de industria, energía y minería en Gobierno de la República Oriental del Uruguay. A partir de 2003 fue decano de la facultad de ingeniería de la Universidad Católica del Uruguay. Luego se desempeñó como vicerrector de gestión económica y desarrollo de esa institución, y hasta su nombramiento como ministro de Industria, Energía y Minería fue director de la UCU Business School. Anteriormente, entre 2001 y 2003, Paganini se integró a la consultora ITC de Antel. En 1995 se radicó en departamento de Paysandú para asumir como director de la empresa Paylana S.A., donde generó una innovación en la tecnología textil despues de fundar una empresa de servicios de ingeniería y automatización para la industria en 1990.
Es ingeniero electricista egresado de la Universidad de la República y cuenta con un máster en dirección de empresas por la Universidad Católica del Uruguay. A su vez, se formó en emprendedurismo en las universidades de Stanford y Berkeley, y en negociación por el programa Global PON de la Universidad de Harvard.
