Máximo Pacheco
Máximo Pacheco is the minister of energy of Chile. Previously, he was senior vice president of International Paper from 2004 to 2013 where he also served as their regional president for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia. Pacheco led International Paper’s operations in Brazil from 2004 until 2009. Before joining International Paper, he was executive vice president for Chile and Latin America at Carter Holt Harvey. Pacheco was appointed executive vice president of operations at the Corporación del Cobre de Chile (Codelco) in 1990. He was the general manager of Leasing Andino from 1983 to 1990. Pacheco began his professional career as a personal banking manager at Banco Osorno. An active member of the Socialist Party, he earned his degree in commercial engineering and economics from the Universidad de Chile.
Máximo Pacheco se desempeña como ministro de energía de Chile. De 2005 a 2013 fue vicepresidente senior de International Paper (IP), paralelamente entre los años 2010 y 2013 fue presidente de la unidad regional de esta empresa para Europa, Medio Oriente, África y Rusia. Entre 2004 y 2009 tomó la dirección de IP en Brasil y en 2000 comenzó a dirigir la representación de esta empresa para Latinoamérica. Antes de unirse a IP, Pacheco asumió como vicepresidente ejecutivo para Chile y Latinoamérica de la firma Carter Holt Harvey. En 1990 fue nombrado vicepresidente ejecutivo de operaciones de la Corporación del Cobre de Chile, Codelco. Entre 1983 y 1990, el ministro Pacheco fue gerente general de Leasing Andino. Inició su carrera profesional como gerente de banca personal del Banco Osorno. Pacheco es ingeniero comercial y economista de la Universidad de Chile.
