President, INCAE Business School

Enrique Bolaños is the current president of INCAE Business School, a position he has held since 2015.

As president, Enrique's focus has been to guarantee academic excellence, ensuring INCAE remains among the top business school in Latin America and the world. INCAE is one of the few schools that has obtained the triple crown accreditation from the AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS agencies. It is also accredited by SACS.

Under Enrique’s leadership, relationships have been strengthened with some of the most prestigious business schools in the United States. In addition to the solid link that continues with founding partner Harvard Business School, INCAE offers dual-degree master’s programs with Yale University and the University of Michigan, as well as master’s and executive programs in collaboration with the University of Virginia and Babson College.

Enrique has successfully strengthened and diversified the faculty, in both gender and nationalities. The academic curriculum of the master's programs has been renewed in response to the demands of the future. A process of modernization of the infrastructure and incorporation of the latest trends in technology have also been carried out at the institute.

During his tenure, INCAE has established a fruitful alliance with Emeritus, the renowned global online education platform, which allowed the launch, of INCAE Online in 2020, just in time to face the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a sign of its interest in continuing to innovate, the Master in Analytics, Innovation and Technology, and the Master in Agribusiness in partnership with Zamorano University were launched in 2021. Also, in early 2022 the first INCAE Online MBA was launched.

In order to contribute to INCAE's mission of fostering the sustainable development of the Latin American region, Enrique has led important initiatives with the institute's impact centers. The Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) is a partner of the World Economic Forum and a regional partner of the Social Progress Imperative, using the Latin American Social Progress Index as a tool to improve the well-being of the population. The Latin American Center for Entrepreneurs (LACE) promotes entrepreneurship in the region, and together with the Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Leadership (CELIS), has overseen the creation of several projects, including LEADS Mujer, a program that provides women entrepreneurs in Central America with training, mentoring, best practices and tools to grow their businesses.

Before his time at INCAE, Enrique spent more than 30 years of his international career living in the United States, Mexico, and Colombia. He was also CEO of Flexsys in Brussels, Belgium. He successfully led the company through a difficult business climate and turned it into the leading company in the rubber additives industry. He holds an industrial engineering degree from the University of Michigan (1972) and an MBA from INCAE Business School (1974).

Enrique is married to Lourdes Chamorro César, has five children and eight grandchildren.
