Music of the Americas returns to Central Park for New York City's outdoor music extravaganza, Make Music New York, in a world premiere performance of a new Americas Society-commissioned piece by Brazilian composer Valéria Bonafé.
About the work
The new piece by Bonafé, entitled "I am at Dalehead Arch, making a personal trajectory of listening," is site-specific, designed to complement the environment of the park, creating a path for audience members to follow and get close to the performers.

About the composer
Valéria Bonafé was born in São Paulo in 1984. She studied composition at the University of São Paulo (USP) with Aylton Escobar and Silvio Ferraz and attended masterclasses with Emmanuel Nunes, Tristan Murail, Stefano Gervasoni, and Mario Garuti. Her works have been performed at contemporary music concerts and festivals such as SONiC Festival (New York), Le mois des compositeurs (Marseille, France), highSCORE (Pavia, Italy), Música Nova Festival (São Paulo, Brazil) and Bienal de Música Contemporânea Brasileira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). She finished her master's degree in 2011 and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Musicology at USP under professor Marcos Branda Lacerda.
