Overview

Council of the Americas will hold a private, off-the-record conversation with Carlos Alvarado, Costa Rica's new president.

This is the president’s first official trip abroad since taking office on May 8, 2018. President Alvarado will discuss his vision and priorities for the Central American country. He will also address Costa Rica’s economic outlook and perspective on dynamic sectors such as renewable energy, share services, and healthcare.

President Alvarado is the former minister of labor and social security. He studied journalism, and holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of Costa Rica and a master’s degree in development studies from the University of Sussex in England.
