Overview

The Colombian government has also sought to end one of the longest-standing wars in the hemisphere through a peace deal with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). After four years of talks in Havana with the guerrilla movement, the Colombian government and the FARC reached an agreement to end the 52-year war—a major milestone for Colombia and Latin America as a whole. But the surprise rejection of this agreement in the October 2 plebiscite has left its supporters to consider next steps.

Council of the Americas will hold a discussion on the Colombia peace process with Juan Carlos Pinzón, ambassador of Colombia to the U.S.
