Whitaker will discuss Colombia’s political and economic trajectory during the past four years he has served as ambassador, and where he sees the country heading. He will share his vision for the next steps in Colombia’s economic development and the key priorities in the U.S.-Colombia bilateral relationship, taking into account its admission into the OECD on May 25 and the June 17 presidential elections.

He has served as the U.S. ambassador to Colombia since April 28, 2014. Prior to this appointment, he was deputy assistant secretary of state for South America.
