Book Launch - Midnight in Mexico: A Reporter’s Journey Through a Country’s Descent into Darkness by Alfredo Corchado
Please join AS/COA for the launch of Alfredo Corchado’s new book.
Overview
Foreign journalists are usually safe in Mexico, but they're not immune from violence. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, 28 journalists have been killed since 1992, and the backlog of cases in the Mexican justice system means that many murders will remain unsolved.
Please join us for the launch of Alfredo Corchado’s book Midnight in Mexico: A Reporter’s Journey Through a Country’s Descent into Darkness. Corchado, who is Mexico bureau chief at the Dallas Morning News, depicts in an autobiographical style his return to his native Mexico as a journalist in 1994, just as the narco-violence began. Corchado describes Midnight in Mexico as “searching for the flickering light during the darkest night and believing in the promise of a new day.”
