Americas Society and Council of the Americas (AS/COA) is seeking a student intern for the Washington office to support program development and operations. AS/COA interns have unique exposure to off-the-record policy discussions among business leaders, policy experts and senior government officials, and they contribute to organizing and executing the meetings and forums convened by the AS/COA Washington team.

Principal responsibilities

• Identifying key trends and potential programming opportunities
• Writing briefing papers and developing factsheets on relevant topics for programs
• Conducting data analysis on trade, foreign direct investment, remittance flows and other economic indicators in the Americas
• Providing logistical support for program implementation
• Developing promotional materials for AS/COA Washington programs
• Performing market research and preparing company profiles

Time requirement

• 20–25 hours per week; minimum three-month commitment
• Hybrid work schedule—minimum three days working at the office.
• Flexibility to cover programs that take place early mornings or evenings preferred
• University credit offered

Qualifications

• At least two years of college or university (ideally business, economics or international affairs concentrations)
• Excellent English and Spanish skills, written and verbal. Portuguese a plus.
• Prior experience working on Latin America and the Caribbean
• Exceptional research skills—including use of Excel and Microsoft Suite tools

It’s November 2026, the new Colombian minister of mines and energy is coming to Washington and agreed to participate in a private roundtable with COA member companies. Draft introductory remarks to be given by the COA vice president, highlighting the relevance of the roundtable and helping to frame the discussion.
