Digital Content Associate, AS/COA Online

Americas Society and Council of the Americas (AS/COA) are sister organizations providing the most trusted forum for debate on issues affecting the Western Hemisphere. Headquartered in New York City, AS/COA also has offices in Washington and Miami and holds high-level events across the United States and Latin America.

AS/COA Online seeks an associate to edit and produce video content, support and build the organizational social media strategy, and develop successful online promotional materials focused on AS/COA programming and content. The ideal candidate will have a proven capacity to create effective social video content, in addition to being a quick learner who can adapt to new online media trends and tools. The person must be detail-oriented and able to manage competing demands and deadlines across departments, as well as have knowledge of current events taking place in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The position is based in New York, offers a competitive benefits package, and requires a minimum of three out of five days in person in our offices as well as coverage of in-person events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Recording, editing, and posting video, podcasts, and other multimedia content as required while working as a liaison on audiovisual needs across departments and offices.
  • Producing video shorts for social media platforms and institutional promotion that adhere to branding guidelines.
  • Serving as a producer for live webcasting of events overseeing logistics internally across departments and with external vendors to ensure seamless, high-quality broadcasts and digital programming.
  • Creating and/or overseeing production of graphics, particularly for digital events and streams, using tools such as Adobe Create Suite and Canva.
  • Supporting and building social media efforts and strategy, including tracking and reporting on related analytics.
  • Conducting photo research for images to accompany AS/COA content and events, providing photo selection and editing support to other departments, and managing related media archiving. Occasional photography of events may be required.
  • Carrying out online tasks, from creating to editing web pages to writing and posting social media copy.
  • Staying on top of new online media trends, particular in the areas of video and social media.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum BA in journalism, communications, international affairs, or relevant field required. Study of/background in Latin America strongly preferred.
  • English- and Spanish-language skills required. Knowledge of Portuguese a plus.
  • Two years minimum of related experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to digitize, edit, and export video content using Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere required, as well as experience shooting using HDSLR cameras and audio capturing. Familiarity with managing video and audio equipment.
  • Experience producing social video, video shorts, and video clips, particularly for platforms such as YouTube Shorts and Instagram, required. Portfolio of social media videos preferred.
  • History of working on social media platforms and their use as a marketing tool.
  • Background working with streamed programming and event production preferred.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, audio editing, design tools such as Canva or Illustrator, and data visualization tools such as Infogram preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines accordingly.

The salary range for this position is $60k-$65k.
