Weekly Chart: Women in the 2015 Social Inclusion Index

By Elizabeth Gonzalez

AS/COA Online looks at academic and financial data on women from Americas Quarterly’s 2015 Index.

From ethno-racial inclusion to women’s rights, Americas Quarterly’s 2015 Social Inclusion Index looks beyond the economics of the Western Hemisphere, tracking social development in the region. Women’s rights, in particular, have made some progress, thanks in part to more women holding political power. Yet, gaps remain. For example, in Honduras less than 12 percent of women between the ages of 25 and 65 have access to a formal job, defined as one that provides a pension.

AS/COA Online highlights several of the index’s variables gauging academic and financial gaps for women across the hemisphere.

Tune in September 10 for the launch of the Social Inclusion Index
