Vice President Sonnenholzner and Three Cabinet Members to Participate in Council of the Americas Ecuador Conference

The event will discuss how Ecuador can attract new investment and make it easier to conduct business in the country. 

The event on May 9 in Guayaquil will spotlight strategies for investment in Ecuador.

New York, April 17, 2019 Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA), the premier business organization in the Western Hemisphere, in partnership with Ecuador’s Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment, and Fisheries, and with the collaboration of the Comité Empresarial Ecuatoriano, will host its Latin American Cities Conference in Guayaquil, entitled, “Ecuador: Prospects for Investment and Growth.”

The conference will take place on May 9 at 9 a.m. at the Hilton Colón Hotel in Guayaquil. The event will convene government representatives and private-sector leaders who will discuss how Ecuador can attract new investment and make it easier to conduct business in the country. This event will include a live webcast.

Confirmed speakers include Vice President of Ecuador Otto Sonnenholzner; Pablo Campana, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment, and Fisheries; Richard Martínez, Minister of the Economy and Finance; Rosi Prado de Holguín, Minister of Tourism; Fernando Benalcázar, Vice Minister of Mining; Carlos Alaña Pine, Country Manager, Mexichem Ecuador; Patricio Alarcón, President, Comité Empresarial Ecuatoriano; Bernardo Requena, Director Representative, CAF – Development Bank of Latin America; and Susan Segal, President and CEO, Americas Society/Council of the Americas.

Founded in 1965, AS/COA organizes more than 250 public policy programs per year in New York, Miami, Washington DC, and cities throughout Latin America. Events cover a wide range of topics, including economics, policy, trade, technology, security, education, social inclusion, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and energy. The conference “Ecuador: Prospects for Investment and Growth” is part of the organization’s Latin American Cities Conferences, a series of half-day events featuring top-level speakers in the public and private sectors across key cities in the region.
