President Vizcarra and Minister Popolizio to Discuss Transparency and Accountability in the Private Sector

The conference will explore Peru's economic outlook and strategies to promote transparency and rebuild trust.

New York, November 20, 2018Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA), the most influential business organization in the Western Hemisphere, in partnership with Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will host its thirteenth annual conference in Lima: “The Role of the Private Sector in the Quest for Transparency.”

The conference takes place Thursday, December 6 at 8:30 a.m. at the JW Marriot Hotel. In addition to exploring the economic outlook for Peru and the region, this year's conference will focus on how governments can collaborate with the private sector in promoting transparency and rebuilding trust. Panelists will discuss immediate and long-term strategies to strengthen institutions and promote accountability in the wake of regional corruption scandals. The conference will be live webcast.

Speakers include Martín Vizcarra, President of Peru;  Néstor Popolizio, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Roque Benavides, President, National Confederation of Private Business Institutions; Alberto Ñecco, Executive Director, ProInversión; Carlos Santiso, Director of Institutional Development, Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina, CAF; Susana Silva, Secretary of Public Integrity, Office of the Prime Minister; Francis Stenning, CEO, Bolsa de Valores de Lima; Julio Valverde, President, Central Bank of Peru; Susan Segal, President and CEO, Americas Society/Council of the Americas; and Brian Winter, Editor-in-Chief, Americas Quarterly and Vice President of Policy, Americas Society/Council of the Americas.

Founded in 1965, AS/COA organizes more than 250 public policy programs every year in New York, Miami, Washington DC, and cities throughout Latin America. Events cover a wide range of topics, including economics, policy, trade, technology, security, education, social inclusion, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and energy. The conference “The Role of the Private Sector in the Quest for Transparency” is part of the organization’s Latin American Cities Conferences, half-day events featuring top-level speakers across key cities in the region.
