Americas Society recognized Venezuela's opposition leader and two business executives with the Gold Medal for their impact on Latin America.
New York, June 11, 2025—Americas Society awarded the Gold Medal to Venezuela's opposition leader María Corina Machado, Chairman of Intercorp Peru Ltd. Carlos Rodríguez-Pastor, and Founder and CEO of Nubank David Vélez.
They received the recognition at Americas Society’s 2025 Spring Party, held on Tuesday, June 10 at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York City. This year, the celebration highlighted the 60-year anniversary of Americas Society and its commitment to increasing awareness of the region and the ties that bind our nations together.
"As we celebrate our 60th birthday, we felt it important to return to our roots and honor individuals that best embody the vision and values of our founder, David Rockefeller, and the organization he founded in 1965," said Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA) President and CEO Susan Segal. "We looked for honorees who believe they can impact and change the world, who believe that entrepreneurship and innovation are the path forward, who believe strongly in the power of education, and are tenacious enough in their beliefs to invest and change the lives and future of so many."
