Chase Harrison on CNN: Severe Drought Affects a Vast Portion of Latin America

"If we have large-scale movements of peoples...it's going to put a strain on the social services of those countries," said AS/COA's editorial manager.

AS/COA Editorial Manager Chase Harrison spoke to Rafael Romo of CNN International about severe drought affecting parts of Latin America and the consequences of this phenomenon.

"The situation in Argentina is unprecendently bad. They're having the worst drought conditions in 75 years. And we're seeing those conditions exist in neighboring countries as well—Chile having the worst drought conditions in 50 years, and Uruguay having the worst drought conditions in 80 years," said Harrison. "So if we have large-scale movements of peoples from one place to another, it's going to put a strain on the social services of those countries. It's also just going to create economic dead areas in some of these countries where there cannot be business," added Harrison.
