Letter from the President: Supporting Our Mission at a Critical Moment for the Americas

The work of the Americas Society is more crucial than ever before. Join our community of supporters as we look toward 2019.

The work of the Americas Society is more crucial than ever before, providing a unique platform to engage on the most pressing hemispheric issues.

2018 was a year of complex global relations, and the Western Hemisphere was no exception. Two-thirds of Latin America’s population headed to the polls to vote in presidential, congressional, and local elections. New voices challenged the status quo, bringing corruption, security, economic development, and social development to the forefront of the debate. The crisis in Venezuela underscored the acute need to bring nations together to support the Venezuelan people and apply international pressure on the regime. And the U.S. relationship with Mexico and Canada continued to evolve as NAFTA renegotiations took shape as we close out the year. Trade, immigration, and energy—to name just a few areas—redefined bilateral relationships throughout the region.

We are dedicated to our mission of engagement, dialogue, debate, and impact on critical regional issues. Our numerous programs and Latin American Cities Conferences offer an unparalleled platform for public and private exchange. Our flagship publication, Americas Quarterly has established itself as a must-read for leaders and influencers. And our renowned art gallery and its incredible exhibitions throughout the year coupled with our diverse musical offerings make the Americas Society a unique forum for understanding the political and cultural affairs of the Americas.

We have worked hard to highlight these political, cultural, and economic relationships that connect the Americas and the world since David Rockefeller founded the organization over 50 years ago. And we will continue to provide a one-of-a-kind space for the public and private sectors to come together and discuss these topics.

This work is possible because of the participation and generosity of our members and sponsors. By joining our community of supporters, you help us carry out our mission at a critical moment for the Americas. For that reason, I would like to invite you to give a tax-deductible contribution to the Americas Society, a 501(c)(3) organization.

I thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to seeing you often in 2019 and working together to support the Americas.

Sincerely,
