A Dispatch from Cuba’s Grammys

AQ’s music critic presents highlights from the Cubadisco awards in Havana.

This article is adapted from AQ's special report on cybersecurity Earlier this year, I spent time in Cuba teaching music at the Colegio Universitario San Gerónimo in downtown Havana. My visit coincided with the awards ceremonies for Cubadisco 2023, the annual celebration of the country’s record industry, similar to the Grammys in the U.S. or the Prêmio da Música Brasileira in Brazil.
