Video Q&A: Michael Chertoff on How to Prevent Cyber Threats

What are the steps governments in the Americas should take to prepare for cyber threats? On the sidelines of the 2015 Latin American Cities Conference in Mexico City, Michael Chertoff spoke with AS/COA's Carin Zissis about how governments should build structures to monitor information and assist the private sector in protecting networks.

Chertoff, executive chairman of the Chertoff Group and former U.S. secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, also spoke about how organized crime groups diversify activities beyond drug trafficking, and are now making millions of dollars in cyber crimes everyday. "It's important to look not just at the problem that we face now with criminality, but to anticipate where these groups are going to go next," said Chertoff.
