Highlights - Brazil: The Troubled Rise of a Global Power by Michael Reid

See highlights from a discussion with The Economist journalist Michael Reid on the release of his new book Brazil: The Troubled Rise of a Global Power on June 11. AS/COA Senior Director of Policy and Americas Quarterly Editor-in-Chief Christopher Sabatini moderated the conversation with the author.

After extensive research and first-hand experience living in Brazil for several years, Reid discussed the country's economic and political evolution, along with its place on the world stage. Speaking about last year's demonstrations, Reid said: "Those protests are a turning point in Brazil...I think they represent the voicing from below of a new political agenda in the country."
