CCTV: Eric Farnsworth on Brazil and Mexico's Economic Forecasts

COA Vice President Eric Farnsworth first addressed Mexico’s economic outlook. President Enrique Peña Nieto’s reforms are not attracting as much investment as people expected, Farnsworth told CCTV. He said that these reforms “will pay off,” but will take many years to yield profitable outcomes.

Farnsworth next spoke about Brazil’s corruption scandals and economic recession. He suggested that in order to improve conditions in Brazil, the government needs to “regain trust in the public space” and hold people accountable for the ongoing corruption that exists in the country.

Brazil and Mexico, however, are not the only Latin American countries that are experiencing economic hurdles. Farnsworth explained that the majority of the region did not take the necessary measures to gain an economic advantage in years ahead. “As commodities go down they have nothing left to fall back on,” he said.
