Terrence J. Checki

Former Executive Vice President and Head of Emerging Markets and International Affairs Group, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

Terrence J. Checki is the former executive vice president and head of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Emerging Markets and International Affairs Group. He also served as a member of the Bank’s Management Committee. Checki worked as the Bank’s chief international troubleshooter for a number of years. He is well known for his contributions to the management and resolution of numerous domestic and international economic and financial challenges during that period, including the external debt problems faced by many developing nations and their creditors. Checki’s extensive career at the Bank is characterized by a number of key posts in the corporate sector, bank supervision, in the foreign and international affairs areas as well as in the Office of the President. Prior to being named executive vice president, he served as advisor to the president of the Bank on matters related to financial developments in emerging markets. Checki is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Economic Club of New York, the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the boards of directors of the Foreign Policy Association, the Council of the Americas, and the National Advisory Board of the Institute for Policy Studies at Johns Hopkins University. He holds a Master of Science from Columbia University.
