Shelly Shetty heads the Latin America team in the sovereign group at Fitch Ratings, based in New York. She is responsible for overseeing ratings and leading the research initiative on the eighteen (18) sovereigns rated by Fitch in Latin America and the Caribbean. The lead sovereign analyst covering Brazil and Mexico, Shetty is also a frequent spokesperson for the group on sovereign ratings. Prior to joining Fitch in 2000, Shetty was an assistant vice president for the sovereign group at Duff & Phelps Credit Rating Co., where she covered countries in Central Europe, Africa, and Asia. Shetty earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Economics from Delhi University and an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University.
