Jaime Ardila

President, General Motors South America

Jaime Ardila is executive vice president and president of General Motors (GM) South America, responsible for operations in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela, after serving as GM Mercosur president since 2007. He is currently a member of the GM Executive Leadership Team, reporting to GM President, Daniel Ammann. Mr. Ardila also served as vice president and chief financial officer for GM Latin America, Africa and Middle East. In 2001, he was appointed president and managing director of GM Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Mr. Ardila joined GM in Colombia as export manager and has held various senior level positions at the firm. Prior to joining GM, he was chief of the Economic Integration Division of the Colombian National Planning Department and was later named general secretary at the Ministry of Housing, Industry, and Commerce. Mr. Ardila is a board member of AmCham São Paulo (American Chamber of Commerce) and of the Americas Society/Council of the Americas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogota and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics.
