Francisco J. Monaldi

Robert F. Kennedy Visiting Professor, Harvard Kennedy School

Francisco J. Monaldi is a Robert F. Kennedy visiting professor at the Harvard Kennedy School. He is also a professor at the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administracion (IESA) in Caracas and the co-founder and director of IESA’s Center on Energy and the Environment. Monaldi is an aggregate professor of political economy at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (CAB), and a visiting lecturer at Universidad de los Andes in Bogota and Universidad ESAN in Lima. He is the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards including the Ayacucho Fellowship at the Stanford Center for Latin American Studies, Cargill Research Award at IESA, and Teaching Excellence Award at UCAB. He has been a consultant to the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, CAF Development Bank of Latin America, PDVSA, Shell, Total, Statoil, Cambridge Energy Research Associates, Revenue Watch Institute, Baker Institute, Stanford Program on Energy and Sustainable Development, Eurasia Group, and Medley Global Advisors. He is also on the board of directors of several leading Venezuelan companies and institutions. Monaldi holds a Ph.D. in political science (political economy) from Stanford University, a Master’s in international and development economics from Yale University, and a B.A. in economics from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB).
