Alberto Alemán Zubieta

President of the Panama Canal Authority

Alberto Alemán Zubieta is the CEO of the Panama Canal Authority. The Board of Directors re-elected Mr. Zubieta to lead the Panama Canal Authority for another seven years in 2005 after previously serving as Administrator since 1998. Prior to that, he served as Administrator of the Panama Canal Commission from 1996 to 1999, the United States Government federal agency which was responsible for the administration and operation of the Panama Canal until ownership of the waterway was transferred to the Republic of Panama on December 31st 1999. He began his professional career in the construction field and for many years served as CEO of one of the largest construction companies in the Panama. Mr. Zubieta is the recipient of numerous national and international awards for his achievements and contributions to the world maritime industry and is a member of various international and local organizations. He received degrees from the civil and industrial engineering schools of Texas A&M University.

 

Alberto Arnoldo Alemán Zubieta es el CEO de la Autoridad del Canal de Panamá desde 1998. Antes de su actual cargo se desempeñó como Administrador de la Comisión del Canal de Panamá 1996-1999 cuando éste pertenecía a la agencia del gobierno federal de los EE.UU. Alberto comenzó su carrera profesional en el campo de la construcción y durante muchos años se desempeñó como CEO de una de las mayores empresas constructoras en el Panamá. Alberto es el receptor de numerosos premios nacionales e internacionales por sus logros y contribuciones a la industria marítima mundial y es miembro de diversas organizaciones internacionales y locales. Recibió títulos de las escuelas de ingeniería civil e industrial de Texas A & M University.
