Overview

Council of the Americas will host a luncheon discussion for the launch of the newly released World Bank report Better Neighbors: Toward a Renewal of Economic Integration in Latin America with Jorge Familiar, vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean, World Bank.

Today, few in the region doubt that a deeper and more robust integration into international markets is crucial for lifting the region’s long-term growth rate going forward. Not surprisingly, regional integration has moved to the forefront of the policy debate in Latin America.

Whether such actions will deliver the expected growth dividends is not a given, however. It will depend on the underlying vision of regional integration and the extent and quality of complementary domestic policies and reforms.
