Overview

Please join the Council of the Americas for an off the record conversation with Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior, Alejandro Poiré.

Secretary Poiré has served as President Calderón’s point person for the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime since his appointment to the cabinet in November 2011. Previously, he was Secretary of the National Security Council and a Professor at Harvard University, and he is considered an expert on both security issues and the electoral process.

This meeting will be an opportunity to exchange views on the government’s security policies and U.S.-Mexican cooperation at a time of transition in Mexican politics.
