Mexico: Private Equity Energy Investment

Americas Society/Council of the Americas' Energy Action Group will hold a public panel discussion on the recent private equity investment in energy infrastructure in Mexico. Representatives of private equity firms with interests in Mexico will discuss recent deals taking place in the country's energy infrastructure space and the prospects for further activity, especially considering the oil price environment. The panelists will also discuss investment in the context of Mexico’s energy reforms, including the status of the Round One tenders.

José Enrique Arrioja

Editor-at-Large, Latin America, Bloomberg

José Enrique Arrioja has been editor-at-large for Latin America since March 2013, overseeing strategic planning for Bloomberg News in the region. Previously, he worked as Mexico City bureau chief from 2009 to 2013, and between 2006 and 2009 he was the executive producer of Bloomberg Television Latin America while also anchoring the shows Reporte Financiero and Intercambio, both produced from New York. Arrioja was also a television reporter for Bloomberg Television Spain, gathering and reporting U.S.

Adi J. Blum

Director, First Reserve

Adi J. Blum joined First Reserve in 2011 where he is now director. His responsibilities range from deal origination and structuring to due diligence, execution, monitoring, and exit strategy, focusing on the energy infrastructure sector. Prior to joining First Reserve, Blum was a Vice President at High Road Capital Partners, a middle market private equity firm. Prior to High Road Capital Partners, he was an Associate in Citigroup Markets & Banking’s Mergers & Acquisitions group. Blum holds a B.S. from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service and an M.B.A.

Javier Chavarria

Senior Vice President, Partners Group

Javier Chavarria is part of the Americas Private Infrastructure team, based in Houston, Texas. He leads Latin America direct investments. He joined Partners Group in 2014 and has 18 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Partners Group, he worked at GE Energy Financial Services, Sanders Morris Harris, Solar Development Capital and Enron. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.

Marisol González de Cosío

Director, Utilities & Infrastructure, Standard & Poor's

Marisol González de Cosío is Director in the Infrastructure & Utilities Ratings of Standard & Poor’s based in New York. She is the analyst of utility, energy companies, and projects in the infrastructure and utilities sectors in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. Previously she was part of the Structured Finance ratings team in Mexico. Marisol joined Standard & Poor’s in 2006. Marisol has a B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), from which she graduated with honors. She is a CFA® charterholder.
