Overview

Council of the Americas will hold a private, off-the-record luncheon discussion on the recently signed U.S.-Mexico aviation agreement and its projected impact on bilateral and regional trade, travel, and economic ties.

Susan Kurland, assistant secretary for aviation and international affairs at the Department of Transportation, will provide an overview of the new agreement, which promises unlimited access for U.S. and Mexican air carriers. As part of the secretary of transportation’s senior team, Kurland is responsible for directing the Department’s participation in international aviation negotiations around the world.

This will be an excellent opportunity to exchange views in the run-up to the U.S.-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue, scheduled to take place in Mexico City on February 25.
