Conversation with IMF Western Hemisphere Department Director Alejandro Werner
The former Mexican undersecretary of finance will discuss the economic outlook for the Western Hemisphere.
Overview
AS/COA will host a discussion on the economy of the Western Hemisphere region with Alejandro Werner, former Mexican undersecretary of finance and current director of the Western Hemisphere Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Werner will talk about projections for Latin America in 2015 after the IMF marked down the region’s economic growth given external factors, weaker than expected export performance, deteriorating terms of trade, and other causes. The IMF forecasts a 1.3 percent GDP growth rate for the region in 2014, to be followed by 2.2 percent growth in 2015.
Speakers:
- Alejandro Werner, Director, Western Hemisphere Department, International Monetary Fund
- Lisa Schineller, Managing Director, Sovereign Ratings, Standard & Poor's (Moderator)
