Overview

Council of the Americas will hold a conference call on the August 9 elections in Haiti. These elections featured contests for Haiti’s chamber of deputies and for two-thirds of its senate. Our featured speaker will be Jacqueline Charles, Caribbean correspondent and senior Haiti reporter for The Miami Herald.

Charles is an award-winning foreign correspondent covering Haiti and the Caribbean. She was among the first journalists to arrive in Haiti after the devastating January 2010 earthquake. With her many years covering the country’s economic and political conditions, Charles will offer analysis of the effect this election will have on the October presidential election and the continued post-quake recovery.

Prior registration is required.

Dial-in instructions will be sent to registrants via email.
