For the sixteenth consecutive year, AS/COA will host three chief economists from the Fundación de Investigaciones Económicas Latinoamericanas (FIEL), a leading think tank based in Argentina. Experts will discuss the current outlook and prospects, with each speaker focusing on a different aspect of Argentina's economy.

Daniel Artana

Chief Economist, FIEL

Daniel Artana has been a chief economist at the Fundación de Investigaciones Económicas Latinoamericanas (FIEL) since 1987. He also served as a consultant for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the UN Development Program, and various Latin American governments. Artana is a professor of economics at the National University of La Plata and the University Torcuato Di Tella in Argentina.

Santiago Urbiztondo

Chief Economist, FIEL

Santiago Urbiztondo was appointed chief economist for the Fundación de Investigaciones Económicas Latinoamericanas (FIEL) in 2008. He has also been director of the Department of Regulatory Studies since 1998. Urbiztondo also worked as consultant for the OECD office in Paris and the Inter-American Development Bank, and served as president of the competition authority in Argentina in 2001. Urbiztondo received his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is currently a professor of economics at the University of La Plata.

Juan Luis Bour

Chief Economist, FIEL

Juan Luis Bour is a chief economist at the Fundación de Investigaciones Económicas Latinoamericanas (FIEL), a position he's held since 1977. Bour also serves as a consultant for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Harvard Institute for International Development and several Latin American governments. Additionally, he is a professor of economics at the University of Buenos Aires.
