2014 Latin American Cities Conferences São Paulo – Brazil: What to Expect in the Next Four Years

On March 25, AS/COA's São Paulo conference will examine the country's political and economic outlook ahead of the October 2014 elections.

New York, March 17, 2014—The October 2014 presidential elections in Brazil will mark a pivotal moment for the country. While President Dilma Rousseff remains the favorite, a slowdown in economic growth presents challenges to candidates running for regional governments, Congress, and the presidency. Over the last decade, 40 million Brazilians joined the middle class, but further improvements to living standards and a reduction in income inequality are necessary steps for the country to consolidate its gains.

To examine the country’s political climate and outlook ahead of the elections, join AS/COA at its tenth annual conference in Brazil on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The conference will take place at the Unique Hotel in São Paulo and will be webcast live.

Eduardo Campos, Governor of Pernambuco and pre-candidate to the presidency, will deliver the keynote address. Other local and international panelists confirmed to participate in the event include Hernán Rincón, President, Microsoft Latin America; Sebastian Briozzo, Director, Sovereign Ratings, Standard & Poor’s; Dalton Gardimam, Chief Economist, Banco Bradesco BBI S.A.; Marcelo Kfoury, Head of the Economic Research Department, Citigroup Brazil; Susan Segal, President and CEO, Americas Society/Council of the Americas; Pablo Silva Cesário, Executive Branch Relationship Manager, Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI); Ricardo Ubiraci Sennes, Managing Partner, Prospectiva; Marcelo Moraes, Director of the Brasilia Office, Estado de São Paulo; Joseph Leahy, Bureau Chief in Brazil, Financial Times; Adriana Arai, Managing Editor, Latin America, Bloomberg; Eliane Cantanhêde, Columnist, Folha de São Paulo; Commentator, GloboNews Em Pauta; and Merval Pereira, Columnist, O Globo.
