Guillermo Zubillaga, head of AS/COA's Venezuela Working Group, spoke to Yahoo Finance about the different approaches interim President of Venezuela Juan Guaidó can take in to undermine Nicolás Maduro's regime. He underscored how Venezuela's only revenue at the moment comes from oil, in particular from exports to the United States. Zubillaga noted, "If Guaidó's new government is able to disrupt [oil revenues], that would be more powerful than a weapon." He also commented on the Maduro regime's use of counterintelligence and torture to make sure members of the military stay within the ranks to support Maduro.
