Aníbal Fernández

Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers and Candidate for Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires (Frente para la Victoria)

Aníbal Fernández is a candidate for governor of the Province of Buenos Aires and currently chief of staff of the Minister’s Cabinet for the presidency. Previously, he served in the National Senate as representative for the province of Buenos Aires. Fernández initiated his career as consultant to the Budget Committee for the Senators Chambers of the province of Buenos Aires in 1983. Between 1985 and 1987 he was the administrative secretary for the Peronist Movement of the Chamber and later reached the secretary office of this same institution. Fernández held important roles during three different presidential governments. During Duhalde’s government, Fernández was designated as government secretary for the province of Buenos Aires, secretary-general for the presidency and minister of production. During Kirchner’s government he was named minister of interior in 2003 and in 2007, and during Cristina Fernandez’s government, he was assigned as minister of justice, security and human rights. Fernández received a degree in public accounting from Universidad Nacional de Lomas and later graduated as a lawyer from the same institution. 

Aníbal Fernández es candidato a gobernador de la Provincia de Buenos Aires y actualmente jefe de Gabinete de Ministros de la presidencia de la República Argentina.  Previamente se desempeñó en el Senado Nacional como representante de la provincia de Buenos Aires. Fernández comenzó su carrera como asesor de la Comisión de Presupuesto de la Cámara de Senadores de la provincia de Buenos Aires en 1983. Entre 1985 y 1987 fue secretario administrativo del Movimiento Peronista de dicha Cámara y luego accedió a la secretaría administrativa de esta institución. Durante el gobierno del Presidente Duhalde, Fernández fue designado secretario de Gobierno de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, secretario general de la Presidencia y ministro de producción. En el 2003, durante el gobierno del Presidente Kirchner fue nombrado ministro del interior y en el 2007, durante el gobierno de Cristina Fernández, fue designado ministro de justicia, seguridad y derechos humanos. Fernández es contador público y abogado de la Universidad Nacional de Lomas.
