Mauricio Rands, secretary of state of the Pernambuco, spoke about economic growth in Brazil's northeast.

Overview

AS/COA organized a mission to the northeast of Brazil on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 to discuss the emerging infrastructure opportunities and future prospects for the region. The agenda included morning debates with high-level officials about project financing, public-private partnerships, a site visit to the Industial Complex of Suape, and meetings with Governor of Pernambuco Eduardo Campos and Secretary of Government of Pernambuco Mauricio Rands.

The northeast of Brazil is increasingly attracting the world's attention. Prior to the 2009 global recession, investment opportunities were concentrated on tourism. But in the past decade, the landscape has changed and infrastructure opportunities abound in a region where the GDP growth rate has surpassed the national average.
